Several Minnesota cities are getting ready to celebrate Independence Day, 2016. Here is a list of upcoming fireworks displays:

APPLE VALLEY: Freedom Days, 50th annual Freedom Days celebration begins June 27 and ends July 4 with a pre-fireworks party beginning at 6 p.m. at Johnny Cake Ridge Park East, 5800 140th St. W. Freedom Days includes music, food vendors and games for kids. Carnival from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 4 (5-10 p.m. July 3). A parade starts at 1 p.m. July 4 at Fireside Lane and Pennock Avenue. Fireworks at 10 p.m.

EAGAN: July 4th Funfest, Fireworks at 10 p.m. July 4 are part of Eagan’s July 4th Funfest, which starts July 2 and continues through July 4. Events include a car show, carnival rides and a parade at 10 a.m. July 4. Concerts feature Maiden Dixie at 10 p.m. July 2, Arch Allies at 8:30 p.m. July 3 and the Brian Kinney Band at 8 p.m. July 4. EDEN PRAIRIE: Hometown Celebration, Round Lake Park
EDINA: 4th of July Celebration, Rosland Park
ELK RIVER: Farmer’s Fourth, Lions Park
EXCELSIOR: Lake Minnetonka 4th of July Celebration, Boasting “the best fireworks on Lake Minnetonka” at dusk, 4th of July events start at 7:30 a.m. with Firecracker Runs of 1 mile, 5K or 10K, followed by a 9 a.m. sand sculpture contest. FOREST LAKE: 4th of July Celebration, Events begin July 1 with a carnival and continue through the weekend with food, bingo, live music, baseball games, a parade at 10 a.m. July 4 and fireworks at 10 p.m. July 4.
LAKEVILLE: Pan-O-Prog, Pan-O-Prog, Lakeville’s summer festival, celebrates its 50th year starting with July 4 fireworks. A pre-fireworks party starts at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeville North High School, 19600 Ipava Ave., with live music by The Git Backs, inflatables, temporary tattoos, clowns and concessions. Fireworks at 10 p.m. Lawn chairs or blankets are suggested to sit on the football practice field and surrounding areas. Events continue in Lakeville through July 10.
MANKATO: Red Hot Bloom Celebration, Riverfront Park
MAPLEWOOD: Light It Up, “Light It Up Maplewood” from 4 to 10 p.m. July 4 at Hazelwood Park includes live music, food and fireworks. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs. No outside food or beverages will be allowed inside the park.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS: Fireworks at dusk July 4, Mendakota Country Club, 2075 Mendakota Drive.
MINNEAPOLIS: Red, White and Boom (Places to watch include: Golden Medal Park, Lake Calhoun, Stone Arch Bridge), “Red, White and Boom” celebration includes a half marathon, 5K and relay starting at 6:30 a.m. July 4. Activities along the Mississippi feature live music and a screening of “Field of Dreams” at Nicollet Island on July 3. On July 4, there is live music at Father Hennepin Bluff Park and Mill Ruins Park. The Minnesota Orchestra performs at 8:30 p.m. on Boom Island. Fireworks start at 10 p.m. and will be shot off from Water Power Park.
PARK RAPIDS: Heartland Park
PRIOR LAKE: Free all-ages event takes place outside Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel in Prior Lake beginning at 5 p.m. July 4. Food trucks and live music from Martin Zellar and Junk FM conclude with fireworks at 10 p.m. Following the fireworks, the afterparty goes until 1 a.m. with live music by Junk FM, specialty drinks and more. Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to the event, which will take place, rain or shine, in the parking lot between Mystic Lake and Little Six Casino. Coolers, picnic baskets, umbrellas and outside food and beverages will not be allowed.
RED WING: Levee Park
RICHFIELD: 4th of July Celebration, Veteran’s Memorial Park
ROSEVILLE: Party in the Park, The “Party in the Park,” which is part of Rosefest (June 23-26), starts at 1 p.m. July 4 at Central Park and includes carnival activities and puppet shows, live music such as the Splatter Sisters and the Roseville Community Band, Roseville Big Band, food vendors and fireworks starting at 10:15 p.m. over Bennett Lake.
SHAKOPEE: Valley Fair
ST. CLOUD: Wilson Park and Hester Park
STILLWATER: Fireworks over the St. Croix River about 10 p.m. July 4, choreographed to music broadcast on 1220 AM and through a sound system in Lowell Park.
ST. LOUIS PARK: Fireworks Celebration, Aquila Park
ST. PAUL: Fireworks at the conclusion of the St. Paul Saints game July 4 at CHS Field.
WHITE BEAR LAKE: The annual Manitou Days celebration draws to a close July 4 with fireworks at Memorial Beach.
WOODBURY: Fireworks, live musical entertainment, concessions and family activities are a day-long celebration at Bielenberg Sports Center, which will host open skating from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The field house will be open for free drop-in play and walk/run activities. Concessions will be available for purchase. Outdoor concessions will be available at 6 p.m. and Brat Pack Radiowill hit the stage for musical entertainment at 7 p.m. The traditional fireworks display kicks off at 10 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs, and blankets.
