Phillips is one of 11 official communities of Minneapolis. A diverse area, comprising business districts, notably the Children's Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota and Abbott Northwestern, as well as homes and offices, it was subdivided in 2002 into four distinct neighborhoods.

Do you picture yourself in an up-and-coming neighborhood? Well, just a few years ago, a major redevelopment project turned an old Sears tower in Midtown, one of the neighborhoods in Phillips, into a trendy mixed-use business, housing, retail and office complex. Tenants flocked there!

You’ll find no lack of character in Phillips; it is a very affordable central city neighborhood, where the median home price in Midtown is approximately $164,600, about 24% lower than the rest of Minneapolis, but the median family income is corresponding low.

Median rent is lower than in any other community. But there are plenty of amenities available to you, including great public transportation via bus or rail.

You'll find Swedish history, art and food at the American Swedish Institute and you'll encounter street jazz, performance art, puppet shows, the oldest cemetery in Minneapolis, and the Midtown Greenway, an almost six-mile lane dedicated to walkers and bicyclists.
