Not surprisingly, the real estate you’ll find in the periphery of Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun – which includes the Linden Hills and Lynnhurst neighborhoods – is the most expensive.

Armatage, known for its beautiful post-WWII properties, is also one of Minneapolis’ most sought-out neighborhoods.

Windom, on the community’s southern end, is quieter and offers plenty of single-families available at reasonable prices to fit your bill.

Kingfield, near Interstate 35W, is booming with culture and features a more affordable housing stock than some of the other neighborhoods you’ll see in Southwest Minneapolis.

Lake Harriet is surrounded by parkland and is one of the city’s most popular outdoor areas. It offers the usual water sports like sailing and fishing, and even has a bandshell to the north end where you can watch summer concerts and shows.

Both Lake Calhoun and Harriet also offer kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and trolley rides; you’ll never find yourself bored.
